Food Friday: Lemonade Syrup and Lemonade

Fall is football and tailgating season.  Try this recipe for for a great tasting addition to your tailgate.

Fresh squeezed lemon juice

Lemonade Syrup

  • 2 quarts water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 cups lemon juice

Boil water and add sugar.  Stir to dissolve sugar. Boil for 5 minutes. Cool.  Add lemon juice and stir.  Store covered in the refrigerator.

Makes 11 cups of syrup



For your next tailgate

Lemonade (From Syrup)

  • 1/2 cup Lemonade Syrup
  • 1 cup cold water

Combine syrup and water. Stir well and serve over ice. Garnish with lemon slices if desired.

Makes one 12-ounce serving.

One serving contains: 105 calories; 0 mg cholesterol; 7 mg sodium; 28 g carbohydrates
