Alabama 4-H Members Win at National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference

AUBURN, Alabama– Alabama 4-H’ers did well in competition at the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference recently. Three  members placed in the top 10 in the nation in their respective events. Rebekah Wood, Limestone County, placed third in Egg Preparation Demonstration; Aaron Hollaway, Marshall County, placed sixth in the Turkey Barbeque Contest and Trevor Byrd, Marion County, placed eighth in the Chicken Barbeque Contest.

The conference was held in conjunction with the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky. To participate, 4-H members must have excelled in their state’s poultry learning experience activities. The activities and contests, which are held at local, regional and state levels, introduce participants to poultry and the poultry industry. Each year, the Alabama 4-H delegation is sponsored by the Alabama Poultry and Egg Association and the Alabama 4-H Club Foundation, Inc.

For more information on how you can be involved in these contests, visit the Alabama 4-H website or contact your county Extension office.
