Deep South Stocker Conference Is August 4-5

AUBURN, Ala. – The University of Georgia is host for the eighth annual Deep South Stocker Conference Aug. 4 and 5,at the Carroll County Ag Center in Carrollton, Ga. The conference is targeting cattle producers in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi.

Dr. Kim Mullenix, an Alabama Extension beef specialist, said that even though the conference is in Georgia this year, she encourages Alabama producers to attend.

“Alabama producers can learn a lot of valuable information by attending the conference,” said Mullenix. “Producers will learn management skills and strategies that will enable them to maximize their stocker program’s profit potential.”

The two-day conference will address issues affecting:

  • Stocker operators
  • Backgrounder and Pre-conditioning yards
  • Cow-Calf Producers

Additionally, tours will visit stocker operations in the area.

Registration for the Deep South Stocker Conference is $100 per person and covers all seminars, meals and educational materials. Online registration and a full schedule of conference events are available at www.deepsouthstocker.com. A printable registration form also is found there.

This conference is a joint effort of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and the Mississippi State University Extension Service
