Auxin Herbicide Trainings Scheduled Throughout the State

AUBURN, Alabama—Cotton and soybean varieties with resistance to several common herbicides are available to plant on farms across the country. A 2017 labeling change now requires training for all producers planning to use products containing 2,4-D or dicamba in conjunction with resistant varieties. Therefore, Alabama Cooperative Extension System crops agents and specialists will provide auxin herbicide trainings in 16 locations throughout the state.

Auxin Herbicide Training Locations

Trainings began Jan. 29 and will continue through March 15.

The program is intended to help applicators reduce herbicide drift incidents with susceptible crops. Meetings will also provide technical application methods, tank cleanout and new chemistry information. The producer, certified applicator, or person responsible for the application of these products on cotton and soybeans, in-crop must receive this training.

While trainings were offered in 2017, this program will highlight new information, as well as information covered in previous trainings.

Commercial applicators will receive pesticide recertification credit upon completion. Certified crop advisors will also receive 10 points per training.

Registration is $15. Lunch or dinner will be provided at each location. Click here for a complete agenda and a list of locations.
