AUBURN, Ala. – The Conecuh County Extension office is offering a Woodlands and Wildlife Field Day on Sept. 27 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event will take place at Saloom Properties, LLC, 2835 Booker Mill Road, Evergreen, Alabama.
The field day will include professional speakers, innovative technology, research-based information and also vendors exhibits. A free lunch and door prizes will be provided for participants.
Topics discussed will include:
- managing longleaf and gopher tortoise habitat
- managing special sites such as the civil war-era cemetery
- using drones and smartphones to map your property
- establishing longleaf and also using prescribed fire
- invasive plant management.
“We are honored to have lots of partners for the field day,” said Cynthia Knowlton, Extension coordinator for Conecuh County.
The last field day like this in Evergreen was in 2013. Sponsors include: Alabama Forestry Commission, Tree Farm, Longleaf Alliance, Treasure Forest, Stewardship Forest, NRCS, FSA and also the Conecuh County Forestry Planning Committee.

From I-65 exit #96, travel north 4.7 miles, take a left on County Road 21. County Road 21 ends at stop sign and merges into County Road 22, which is Bookers Mill Road. Take a left and continue, seeing Bookers Mills on the right and immediately cross a bridge. The gate is 0.6 miles north of Bookers Mill Bridge on the left.
