Easy Slow Cooker Recipes

AUBURN, Ala. – In today’s fast pace world, people are always looking for ways to cut down time on preparing meals. Many people turn to their slow cookers for help. With a slow cooker, when you get home you will have a meal prepared and ready to serve. These recipes will help save time and make it easier to prepare a home cooked meal.

Pot Roast

Ingredients

3 to 3 ½ pound boneless top round beef roast

1 ½ cup of water

Parsley flakes, 1 tablespoon

1 bay leave

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

2 garlic cloves, minced

½ teaspoon lemon pepper

1 yellow onion

6 potatoes

1 ½ cups baby carrots

Directions

Cut up potatoes and onions into fairly large chunks. Place the onion, potatoes and carrots in a slow cooker. Put the roast on top of the vegetables. Add 1 ½ cups of water, parsley flakes, bay leaf, salt, black pepper, minced garlic cloves and lemon pepper. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on High for 4 to 5 hours.

Chili

 Ingredients

Ground beef, 2 pounds

2 No. 2 cans tomatoes

1 6 ounce can of tomato paste

green bell peppers, diced, 2

medium onions, diced, 2

celery stalks, diced, 2

2 No. 2 can kidney beans, drained

Chili powder, 2 tablespoons

1 minced clove garlic

Salt and black pepper

Directions

Place the beef in a skillet over medium heat, and cook until evenly brown. Drain grease. Place the beef in a slow cooker, and mix in onion, celery, green bell pepper, garlic, tomato paste, tomatoes and kidney beans. Season with chili powder, salt and black pepper. Cover, and cook 8 hours on Low.

Apple Crisp

 Ingredients

5 apples – peeled, cored and chopped

1 teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 cup sugar

¼ cup flour

¼ cup butter

Directions

Mix the flour, sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon together in a bowl. Combine butter with the flour mixture using fingers or a fork until coarse crumbs form then set aside. Place the apples in a slow cooker and toss with lemon juice. Sprinkle the crumb topping on top. Cover and cook on High for 2 hours or Low for 4 hours, until apples are tender. Partially uncover the slow cooker to allow the topping to harden, about 1 hour.

  1. I will try this recipe tonight, which slow cooker have you got? I was going to buy a steam cooker and this was the only site I could find with some recommendations on how to get the best steam cookers, which would you suggest for this recipe?
